Isao Harimoto (HOF) made his Japan Pro Baseball debut in 1959, joining a stellar rookie class that included Hall of Famers Sadaharu Oh and Minoru Murayama. Harimoto was named Pacific League Rookie of the Year that season.. Harimoto is the only Japanese player to amass more than 3,000 hits and 500 home runs during his career. He was an 18 time all star and was named to 16 Best 9 teams. He won 7 batting championships. However, being a Pacific League player for most of his career, he did not receive nearly the attention as did Oh and other Central League stars. Finally, in 1976, Harimoto moved to the Yomiuri Giants of the Central League, continuing his assault on the record books by hitting .355 in 1976 and .348 in 1977. This card and autograph both date from Harimoto's late 1970s stint with the Giants. Signed boldly in blue Sharpie.
