Under the auspices of John McGraw and Charles Comiskey, members of the New York Giants, Chicago White Sox and other assorted players toured the world in 1913-14, spreading the baseball gospel. 46 games were played, and of
those, three were contested in Japan. One game on 12/6/13 and one on 12/7/13 pitted the Giants against the White Sox. However, the middle game, the second game of the 12/6 doubleheader, was a battle between the combined U.S. team and Keio University, won by the
Americans by a score of either 16-3 or 10-3 depending on the reference source. The winning pitcher of that game was Jim Scott of the White Sox, with a Keio pitcher named Kazuma Sugase taking the loss. To commemorate these games,
a set of three postcards was issued. We know that two of the three players in the set are John McGraw and Doc White. The name of the third player is unknown to us. Offered here is one of these commemorative postcards which pictures
John McGraw. The Japanese text in the upper right corner on the image side reads, "McGraw New York National League". The side used for writing is unused.
