While Starffin's team is printed as "Robins" on this card, he is seen wearing his 1946 Pacific team uniform. While we have seen this image before, we have not previously seen this card. Since there are no prewar or wartime cards known of Starffin, we must regard this as one of the earlier issues to feature the Russian Hall of Famer. In 1947, Starffin was still rounding into form after missing the entire 1945 season as well as most of 1946. He finished with and 8-10, 2.05 record. The next two seasons saw him bounce back to win 17 and 27 games. Blank backed.
