The JBR 48 set was issued to commemorate the 1934 U.S. All-Star Tour of Japan, featuring Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Both American and Japanese participants are featured in the set. Only three copies of the Mihara card are known to
exist, and this is the first example to be professionally graded. Mihara had an illustrious career at Waseda U. as a second baseman. After participating in the 1934 Tour, Mihara was the first player ever signed by the Tokyo Giants. After the
war he returned to the Giants as manager, and ultimately managed five different Japan Pro Baseball teams. Known as the "Magic Manager", Mihara's teams won six pennants and four Japan Series titles. He won championships with three
different franchises! Blank backed.
