This baseball was signed by 20 members of the Meiji University baseball team. Two autographs, Shigeo Kameda and Mitsuo Fukuyama, are signed in English. Hawaiian Shigeo Kameda has a most interesting life story. Kameda, while a
student at Meiji U., was conscripted into the Japanese army, where he ended up fighting against several of his brothers! Kameda was not allowed to return to the U.S. for nearly 20 years after the war. The most prominent player who
signed the ball is Hall of Famer Masao Yoshida, who led his high school team to three consecutive national championships at Koshien, and then starred as Meiji U. won four consecutive pennants. Yoshida never played professional
baseball. Team signed baseballs from this era are quite rare and highly collectible.
