The Pacific League's all time greatest player before Ichiro, and certainly the best Japanese catcher ever, Nomura played in Japan Pro Baseball from 1954 to 1980. He ranks second all time in hits (2,901), homers (657) and RBI (1,988). For the first 25 years of his career, he was a member of the Hawks. During his final two years, Nomura moved to the Lions. This traditional signing board, autographed in black marker, dates from Nomura's time with the Lions, as he has inscribed "Seibu Lions" in Japanese to the immediate right of his signature. His has written his uniform number, "19" at lower left. And he has penned the inscription, "Lifetime Catcher", in the far right column.
