This set, published during the 1949 pre-season. carries the R5 designation in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, 2nd Edition, meaning that five or fewer copies of each card are known in the hobby. The set consists of 50 cards, and until now, we did not know how the cards were originally issued. Here we see that they were glued to displays in uncut sheets by the manufacturer, as the cards in this lot are attached to a partial display. Players included in this lot are as follows: (top row, left to right) Makoto Kozuru (HOF), Kikuchi Hirayama, Shosei Go (HOF), Hideo Fujimoto (HOF), Masayasu Kaneda, Shigeru Chiba (HOF), Takeshi Doigaki (bottom row, left to right) Hiroshi Oshita (HOF), Hiroshi Nakao (HOF), Shigeaki Kuroo, Fukuzo Tada, Tsuguo Goto, Takeshi Doigaki, Tokuji Kawasaki. The card backs contain typical menko "Who Am I?" questions. The cards can then be flipped over to the front to see if the person knew the correct answers.

Size: Each card is 1 3/8" x 2 7/8". The uncut sheet is 9 5/8" x 5 3/4".

Condition: The cards are Nm/Mt, but if detached from the display sheet, they would undoubtedly have extra paper and glue residue attached to the back.
