This is the first time in our 53 auctions that we have had the pleasure to offer a 1960 Jintan Gum card of Shigeo Nagashima. What's more, this is the scarcer JF 8 version. The JF 8 Nagashima card seems to be found at the rate of one card for every 4 or 5 copies of Nagashima's JF 9 card. Shigeo Nagashima needs no introduction to collectors of vintage Japanese baseball cards. He is the most beloved player in Japanese baseball history, and many say the best ever (at least prior to Ichiro)--even better than Sadaharu Oh.
