Airplane diecut menko have always been highly popular among collectors of vintage Japanese baseball cards, especially for their unique, colorful, highly artistic design. The JDM 10b set contains the largest airplane baseball menko cards known in the hobby. The set has received an R5 scarcity factor rating from the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition, meaning that three or fewer copies of most cards in the set have been discovered. This card of Doigaki is the only example known in the hobby. Takeshi Doigaki was the most prominent catcher of the postwar era in Japan, and surprisingly was never elected to the Hall of Fame. Playing primarily for the Hanshin Tigers and Mainichi Orions during his 18 year career (1940-1957), Doigaki won five consecutive Best 9 awards, and had a lifetime batting average of .282. He barely missed out on consecutive league batting championships.
