This baseball was signed in black fountain pen by 20 members of the league champion Meiji University baseball team of the Tokyo Big Six University League. Meiji won both the spring and fall league titles in 1937 and 1938. The
most prominent player who signed this ball is Hall of Famer Masao Yoshida. During his high school career, Yoshida amassed a lifetime record of 23-3 at the National High School Baseball Championships at Koshien. His all time record for
wins at Koshien has never been approached, and his 25 inning, complete game effort in the 1933 semifinals made him a national hero. He was captain of the Meiji team in 1938, capping a stellar five season Tokyo Big Six University
League career. Yoshida never played professional baseball. Two signatures on the ball, Shigeo Kameda and Mitsuo Fukuyama are in English.
