In 1960, Starffin became the first foreigner elected to the Japan Baseball Hall of Fame. He was also the first pitcher to win 300 games in Japan. The Russian emigre won two MVP awards and led the league in wins six times. His lifetime ERA of 2.09 ranks fifth on the all time list. The card on the left is quite similar in design to cards from the JCM 123 and 124 "Who am I?" sets. It was most probably produced by the same unknown manufacturer who printed the others. The card on the right is also in "Who am I?" format, with three clues as to Starffin's identity written in Japanese on the back. Based on the style and the reference to his performance during the 1949 San Francisco Seals Tour of Japan printed in clue #2, we are assuming that this is a 1950 issue.

Size: Each card is approximately 2 15/16" x 2 3/4".
