This scarce set of 48 playing cards has "suit" designations in the margins of the card fronts, but the letter of the "suit" is actually the logo of the
player's team. The set has received an R4 designation in the Japanese Baseball Checklist & Price Guide, VIntage Edition, meaning that fewer
than 10 copies of each card are known. On the rare occasions that we have had single cards from this set, they have always brought strong
prices in our auctions, as their scarcity, colorful artistic designs, U.S. vintage baseball card size and the accurate player likenesses have
captured the imagination of the Japanese baseball card collecting public. This high grade lot consists of 12 Japan Hall of Fame members
including (top row, left to right) Shunichi Amachi, Kazuto Tsuruoka, Haruyasu Nakajima, Tokuji Iida, (second row, left to right) Katsumi Shiraishi,
Henry "Bozo" Wakabayashi, Kaoru Betto, Noboru Aota, (third row, left to right) Tetsuharu Kawakami, Michinori Tsubouchi, Fumio Fujimura and
Shigeru Chiba.
