Taiho is generally regarded as the greatest Yokozuna (Grand Champion) in the history of sumo. This long scroll contains his handprint (tegata) with signature in the bottom
portion, with the inscription in Japanese, "Long Life" at the top. The signature and inscription were written with a traditional Japanese calligraphy brush. The scroll is
still housed in the original storage box. The text on one end of the box contains Taiho's name, "Yokozuna", and his inscription.
Size: 17 1/2" x 76" when unrolled.
Condition: The scroll is Nm. Taiho's signature grades 10 of 10. His handprint is sharp with smudging at the edges. The inscription grades 8 of 10.
