This is a seldom seen Jintan gum card of Havana native Chico Barbon. As a 22-year-old, Barbon left his native land to join the Hankyu Braves in 1955. He ultimately played 11 seasons in Japan. Rather than returning to Castro's Cuba after his playing career ended, Barbon remained in Japan, where even today, he is a prominent member of the Japanese baseball scene. The JF 8 1960 Jintan Gum card of Barbon seems to be more common than this JF 9 issue. For example, over the years, we have had the privilege of offering three examples of the JF 8 card at auction, while this is the first JF 9 we have ever offered for sale or auction.
