Nippon Tokyo team, the precursor of the Yomiuri Giants, for their 110 game barnstorming tour of the U.S. He stole a remarkable 105 bases on the Tour. However, Tabe quit the
team prior to the Giants' joining Japan Pro Baseball due to perceived poor treatment. He later joined Japan's war effort and was killed in Okinawa in 1945.
