The three magazines were published by Shukan Baseball magazine and are guides for the 1978, 79 and 80 U.S. Major League Baseball seasons. The magazine pictured at left is the 1978 edition which features 23 players on the cover including Reggie Jackson, Pete Rose, Steve
Carlton, George Brett, Willie McCovey, Nolan Ryan, Carl Yastrzemski, and Rod Carew among others. Inside are hundreds of color photos and hundreds of black and white photos of virtually every American baseball star of the 1970s. There are also year - by - year statistics for
over 200 prominent players. Perfect bound. Japanese text.
The 1979 magazine (center) has eight players on the cover - Reggie Jackson, Johnny Bench, Rod Carew, Vida Blue, Ron Guidry, Pete Rose, Dave Parker and Jim Rice. It is quite like a Japanese version of a Street & Smith's baseball annual. There's a color graphics section at the
front containing large color photos of several players on each of the 26 MLB teams. There are also 18 rather large player headshots for each team. There are also numerous historical articles with pictures of everyone from Babe Ruth to Connie Mack. Overall, there are nearly 1,000
photos of MLB players in this magazine. Perfect bound. Japanese Text.
The 1980 magazine (right) has a patriotic cover depicting Pete Rose, Reggie Jackson, Fred Lynn, Phil Niekro, Joe Niekro, Dave Parker, J. R. Richard, Ron Guidry, Steve Kemp and Roy Smalley on an American flag background. There are over 1,000 photos inside, with nearly 100 in color.
These images feature nearly every 1980 U.S. major leaguer. All major league teams are covered in detail. There's a killer Pete Rose Mizuno ad inside. Mostly Japanese text with player names in English. Perfect bound. Japanese Text.
