1979 was Sadaharu Oh's penultimate season in Japan Pro Baseball. He had already surpassed the 800 career home run mark near the end of the previous campaign. At age 39 he still had enough left in the tank to bat .285 with 33 homers. The card pictured at left is from the 48 card JC 8a Basic Series, while the card at right is from the JC 8b April Best Series. In the April Best series, fans voted for the player who had the best month of April, and the back of the card indicates that Oh was rated the second best player in the league
