These are two cards from an eight card ground breaking set of colorful, blanked back lenticular cards. The production values are far superior to those of any cards produced in the U.S. at that time. Compare this card to a 1970s Kelloggs 3-D card and you will easily see the superiority of the Kabaya cards.
Horiuchi was known as "Bad Boy Taro" as a result of his off-the-field antics. Possibly the most recalcitrant player in Yomiuri Giants history, he was the Giants' first round draft choice in 1965. In his rookie season, straight out of high school, he led the Central League with a spectacular 1.39 ERA. Takada, a starting outfielder and third baseman with the Giants for most of his 13 year career had a lifetime batting average of .270. These cards have a scarcity factor of R4 in the Japanese Baseball Card & Price Guice, Vintage Edition, meaning that fewer than 10 examples of each card are known in the hobby.
