The incredibly rare JBR 48 set consists of 20 cards and was produced to commemorate the fabled 1934 U.S. Major League All Star Tour of Japan featuring Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Ten of the cards in the set depict American players. The set carries an R5 designation in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition, indicating that three or fewer examples are known of most cards in the set. Offered here is one of only two known examples of the Foxx card.
Foxx was only the second player to hit 500 homers in his career (after Babe Ruth). In 1932, he pounded out 58 round trippers. His lifetime batting average of .324 is a testament to his overall batting prowess.
