Offered here are two audiovisual products related to Sadaharu Oh's career, with emphasis on his record breaking 756th home run: 1. An original NHK Betamax video. 2. A color movie and audio cassette. The label on the Betamax cassette features Oh as he heads to first
base upon slugging number 756. The original price for this Betamax tape was an astounding 33,000 yen. The 8mm color movie is titled The Oh Story and is sealed in its original packaging. The photo showing the contents is a sample image. The film is accompanied
by a cassette tape, which we suspect is the soundtrack to the film. According to the box, the film contains footage of Oh as a schoolboy, of his rookie season, playing against the S.F. Giants on their 1960 Japan Tour, and many of his milestone homers, including numbers 714
and 715, as well as number 756. The original price of this film and audio cassette was 13,500 yen. Therefore, in order to buy both the video cassette plus the film with audio cassette, one would have needed to shell out 46,500 yen, or nearly $200, which was quite a sizeable
outlay in 1977.
Size: The Betamax tape measures 6 1/4" x 3 3/4". The 8mm movie box measures 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 1 1/4".
Condition: The Betamax tape is Ex/Mt. The 8mm movie is Mint in the original packaging.
