Murayama (1936-1998), the "Man of Flames" had a spectacular rookie season in 1959, winning the Sawamura (Japan Cy Young) award. He also was honored as Rookie of the Year over Sadaharu Oh. His ERA was under 1.20 in three different seasons, including an astounding 0.98 in 1970! He was inducted
into the Hall of Fame in 1993. Murayama signed this shikishi (traditional signing board) with a calligraphy brush, and included his personal stamp. Murayama is known to have one of the most unique signatures among Japan pro baseball superstars. There is a Hanshin Tigers
flag affixed to the upper left corner.
