Hall of Famer Ryozo Hiranuma (1879-1959) was known as the "Father of Amateur Sports". In 1914 he managed the Keio University baseball team that toured America at the invitation of Stanford University. Hiranuma went on to become the president of the Tokyo Big Six baseball League. He later served as the head of the Japanese contingent during the 1932 Los Angeles and 1936 Berlin Olympic games. He was the first president of the Japanese Athletics Association, first president of the Japanese Gymnastics Federation, Japan Handball Association President and Chairman of the Japan Volleyball Association. He was also mayor of the city of Yokohama from 1951 until his death in 1959. Hiranuma was inducted into the Japan Pro Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979. This shikishi (traditional signing board) was signed with a calligraphy pen. In addition to his autograph, it also includes his personal stamp and an inspirational message.
