The New York Yankees' one and only tour of Japan took place following the 1955 regular season. This travel bag, complete with the Yankees logo, was distributed to the players, who travelled via Japan Air Lines. Handwritten on the inside of the outer pocket is "Property of
Mickey Charles Mantle Tour NY/Japan 1955". We don't believe this is Mantle's writing. Moreover, we are unable to confirm whether or not this travel bag was indeed the property "The Mick". In any case, it is the first authentic Tour flight bag that we've handled. The Yankee
logo and "Japan Air Lines" are printed on both sides of the bag. The bag is made of a thick vinyl and includes the original shoulder strap. During the tour, Mantle played in seven games, compiling a .333 batting average.
