Mizuhara was a member of the Keio University baseball team from 1928-1932. Shortly thereafter, he played for the All Japan team against the famed U.S. All Stars with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig during their celebrated 1934 Japan Tour.
He later played for the Yomiuri Giants from 1936-1942, and in seven games during the 1950 season. As manager the Yomiuri Giants from 1950 to 1960, he had incredible success, winning eight Central League pennants and four
Japan Series titles. Later, he managed the Flyers and Dragons until retiring in 1971. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1977. This photo was part of the Sotheby's Fujita collection 2007 auction.
