Born in 1933, Nakanishi was a member of the Nishitetsu Lions for 18 seasons (1952-1969) . He was the Rookie of the Year (1952), a seven time All-Star player, and was MVP in 1956. He was inducted into the HOF in 1999. During his career with the Lions, Nakanishi was a player/manager (1962-1969).
