This early sumo set is printed on thin, blank backed stock and features 24 rikishi (sumo wrestlers) active during the 1920s. The set includes two Yokozuna (Grand Champions)--Tsuneohana and Tamanishiki. These colorful cards are presented in accordion style, with uncut three card panels comprising each section of the "accordion." The one exception is that there is a panel of two cards, along with an added single card. It is said that this substitution was made because one rikishi, originally intended to be in the set, died while eating a potentially deadly form of sushi called fugu in December 1926! This is the highest grade complete prewar sumo set that we've seen to date.
Size: The package is 6" x 3 3/4". Each card is 1 1/2" x 3 1/2".
Condition: The package is Ex to Ex/Mt. The cards would be mostly Nm/Mt and Mint if cut from the panels.
