Furuta, currently the player/manager for the Yakult Swallows, was named catcher on Japan's All 20th Century Best 9 Team. He was also head of the Japan players' association (union) from 1998-2005. He began his career with the Swallows in 1990, and reached the 2,000 hit milestone last season. The 2-time MVP and 10-time Golden Glove catcher and future Hall of Famer has signed this game-used Zett bat beautifully in silver ink. This bat was used sometime during the 2001-2004 seasons as indicated by the official NPB logo. "ZS27", indicating Zett Swallows #27 is engraved in the knob. 27 is Furuta's uniform number. This bat measuring 33 1/8" and weighing 31.6oz (893g) shows light game use and is uncracked. Please remember that game used equipment rarely leaves the clubhouse in Japan, so a signed, game used bat of an All Century Team player is extremely difficult to acquire.
