While nearly all other late 1970s and early 1980s Yamakatsu issues are quite common, the 128 card 1979 JY 8 Yamakatsu cards are not so easily found. As a result, these cards command a premium over many 1970s issues. Sadaharu Oh and Shigeo Nagashima each have two different cards in the set. Overall, the set contains a whopping 44 cards of HOFers/Golden Players, including at least one card (often two different) of Yutaka Fukumoto (all time stolen base king), Yutaka Enatsu (named best pitcher of the 20th century), Isao Harimoto (only player with at least 3,000 hits in Japan Pro Baseball), Katsuo Osugi, Koji Yamamoto, Michio Arito, Tsutomu Wakamatsu, Manabu Kitabeppu, Yasunori Oshima, Kenichi Yazawa, Osamu Higashio, Makoto Matsubara, Choji Murata, Hisashi Yamada, Masaji Hiramatsu, Isao Shibata, Taira Fujita, Koichi Tabuchi and Senichi Hoshino. Also, there are cards of Americans Dave Hilton and Leron Lee.

Each of the 50 unopened packs in this box contains three cards. While we can't promise that you'll complete the set if you open all the packs, we can assure you that you will be off to a great start toward completing it if you win this lot. Moreover, we expect that if you submit these cards to third party graders, many of your cards will most likely receive high grades.

The two packs enclosed in plastic contain a total of six "winner cards" which have the manufacturer's winner stamp on the back. Also included are two unused albums which could be used for mounting the cards. The albums feature images of Sadaharu Oh and Shigeo Nagashima on the front. Originally, there were three unused albums included with the packs.

Size: Each card is 2" x 2 3/4". The box is 8 1/2" x 7" x 1 1/8".

Condition: Most of the cards in the unopened packs are likely to be Nm, Nm/Mt and Mint. The box has paper loss on the top, along with dirt and some creasing.
