We have never seen this item before!

Japanese newspaper companies have traditionally advertised their product with large posters containing the day’s headlines and photos.  These posters were placed in glass display cases along busy streets and in train stations.

The poster offered here, produced by Jiji News, depicts Babe Ruth with a group of ball boys at Koshien Stadium during the U.S. Major League All Star Tour of Japan.  The All Stars played against the All Japan team at Koshien on November 24th, prevailing by a score of 15-3.  On November 25th at Koshien, the All Stars split their squad and the two resulting teams of U.S. players played against each other.  We believe that the image on this poster emanates from the game of November 25th.

This piece paints a whimsical portrait of Babe Ruth enjoying himself during this fabled excursion to the Land of the Rising Sun.  It would certainly look great in a frame.
