From late 1952 until early 1954, the Kabaya Food
Co. offered children’s books as premiums. In order to obtain the book of the person’s choice, he or she needed to collect 12 exchange cards found in packages of Kabaya Caramel. It is not known how many different cards were produced, but to date. the card of Babe Ruth is the only one known to have been issued. The green bordered, red background card contains a bust image of Ruth, “Kabaya Exchange Ticket” is printed in Japanese at the top. The Kabaya Caramel name and logo are printed at the bottom. The light green bordered reverse contains text explaining the Kabaya Book Club program.
This rare Babe Ruth card would make a great addition to any Ruth Collection.
