For only the third time in our 34 years of buying, selling and auctioning Japanese sports memorabilia, we present a vintage Masaichi Kaneda (1933-2019) autographed photo. In fact, this is the first time since 2007 that we have been able to offer such an item. This black & white, postcard sized masterpiece dates from Kaneda's stint as manager of the Lotte Orions (1973 to 1978). In 1974, Kaneda piloted the Orions to the Japan Series title. Japan's greatest pitcher ever (at least prior to Shohei Ohtani) and 400 game winner inscribed a bold Japanese signature in black marker. We believe that this photo was signed during the 1975 season.
