While we have seen this Nagashima image on several of his 1958 rookie cards, this is the first example of this image on a JCM 31d card that we have encountered. The card will be a new addition to the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 3.0, scheduled to be published later this year.

It is amazing to think that after several decades of researching Japanese cards, we still occasionally find additional new, rookie issues of a player with the stature of Nagashima! More early career cards were issued of Mr. Giants, than of any other player in Japanese baseball history. This plethora of different rookie and second year cards stands as a testament to the idea that after his stellar career at Rikkio U., his was the Japan Pro Baseball debut most anticipated in history.
