More than 1,000 different cards of Sadaharu Oh have been issued over the years. Of this multitude of cardboard images, the JGA 152 card stands as one of the very scarcest. In our 33 years of buying, selling and auctioning Japanese baseball cards, this is the first time that we have ever been able to offer the JGA 152 Oh as a single card. Previously, we have offered the card only once as part of a complete set. Not surprisingly, this card stands at or near the top of nearly all Sadaharu Oh card collectors' want lists.

The JGA 152 set was issued as a premium to purchasers of the September 1968 issue of Shonen Book magazine. The Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 2.1 has awarded the JGA 152 set a scarcity factor of R4, signifying that ten or fewer copies of this card are known. Since Shonen Book is a general interest magazine for children, rather than a sports publication, issues of the magazine have rarely fallen into the hands of sports collectors. Furthermore, many children who read Shonen Book were not interested in baseball cards at the time and threw them away. Both of these facts contribute to the current rarity of the set.
