This player card is part of a karuta set made by Suzuki Publishing in 1959. The set is entitled Nagashima Senshu Karuta. The majority of the player cards in the set are generic player cartoons. However, nine cards are printed from photographs. Seven of the nine photographic cards feature Shigeo Nagashima. The card offered here is one of them.

On this card (Japanese character NU), Shigeo Nagashima is paired with Kokutetsu Swallows left hander, Masaichi Kaneda. Kaneda, Japan's all time leader in victories and strikeouts, and Nagashima, Japan's most popular player ever, are not known to be paired on any baseball card other than this karuta card. (There is a card of the two along with Tatsuro Hirooka). So, if you have been searching for a Nagashima/Kaneda card, this is your chance to finally land that white whale!
