Hiroshi Oshita (left) is shown here wearing a Tokyu Flyers uniform worn from 1951-1953. Kaoru Betto (right) is seen in his Mainichi Orions uniform from either 1951 or 1952. We are guessing that this giant sized baseball card, originally a first prize premium from an unknown set, was issued in 1951. Both players had very outstanding seasons that year, especially compared to 1952. In 1951, Oshita led the Pacific League with a .383 batting average and 26 homers. Betto batted a solid .309. Both were named to the 1951 Pacific League Best 9 team as outfielders. This striking image most likely emanates from the 1951 All Star Series, as the players are shown sitting in a dugout together and both were named Pacific League All Stars that season.
Blank backed card.
Size: 7" x 9 5/8"
Condition: Technically Fair to Good due to corner issues, but the image remains unaffected by wear. There is extra paper and glue residue on the blank back, as the card was originally sold attached to a product display sheet. All examples of this card should have similar marks of attachment.
