There are eight card fronts in the JCM 44 set, each featuring a different prominent Japanese player. Interestingly, there are ten different Ted Williams backs, each with a number from 1 to 10 and a math equation, but all having the same image of Williams. Any of the eight Japanese player fronts can be matched with any of the 10 Ted Williams backs! This card has Tetsuharu Kawakami on the front combined with the #6 Ted Williams back.

Tetsuharu Kawakami, known as the "God of Batting", was the greatest hitter of the 1940s and 50s. Kawakami played for the Yomiuri Giants from 1938 to 1958. During that time, he won three league MVP awards, and was selected to the Best 9 team in 10 different seasons. He also played on 13 championship teams. Kawakami's managerial career was equally impressive, as his Giants won 11 pennants during his 14 years as manager, including an incredible nine consecutive Japan Series championships. Thus, he could also be considered the "God of Managing"!

There were no baseball cards printed of Kawakami until 1947, therefore this example qualifies as a Kawakami rookie card.
