The JF 27a set was one of the earliest Japanese issues of American Style baseball cards. Each box of four small, dried Nippon Ham sausages also contained a baseball card inside a paper protective sleeve. The purchaser of the box offered here was lucky enough to receive one of 17 different Sadaharu Oh cards included in this approximately 400 card set. While the box and card are still here, we would assume that the sausage was consumed by the purchaser about 45 years ago. This is only the third time that we have seen an original card, sleeve and box combination.

This product came in various flavors. According to the text on this box, it originally contained curry flavored sausage. The back side of the box contains an image of several cards included in the set. We see portions of other cards that include Oh, Shigeo Nagashima (HOF), Koji Yamamoto (HOF), Koichi Tabuchi (HOF), Morimichi Takagi (HOF), etc.

The card itself is a gorgeous, full body close-up of Oh taking a powerful swing. The back of the card contains basic information about Oh, followed by a general discussion of sacrifice bunting..
