This is the first time we have had the pleasure of offering an example of this JBR 98 card of Shigeo Nagashima in more than two decades. While seen occasionally, this card is missing from many of the best Nagashima collections.

Following his stellar career at Rikkio U., Nagashima's entry into Japan Pro Baseball was possibly the most highly anticipated professional debut of all time. He certainly didn't disappoint the fans, as he batted .305 with 29 homers and 92 RBI in 130 games, leading the Yomiuri Giants to the Central League title. For his efforts, he was named Central League Rookie of the Year. From there, Nagashima went on to become Japan's most revered player ever and a cultural icon.
