Myojo (Morning Star) magazine is a general entertainment periodical. Seven cards (six non-baseball) were inserted in the August 1958 issue, including a card of Shigeo Nagashima. Other cards were issued in a second, unknown 1958 issue of the magazine. The Masaichi Kaneda card offered in this lot is one of them. The thin stock, blank backed card has a slick surface. Japanese text includes “Myojo” printed in the lower left corner, while the Kaneda's name is printed at lower right. A facsimile autograph also appears on the card. It's a great close-up image of Japan's all time greatest pitcher. Fewer than ten copies of this card are known to exist.
