The majority of 1940s bromide baseball cards discovered today are found pasted into albums. Apparently, this was the most popular way in which collectors of the late 1940s and early 1950s stored their cards. In most cases, the modern discoverers of these cards soak the cards from the albums prior to sale to collectors. However, at times, the bromides are left in the albums.

This lot contains a collection of 33 different black & white bromides, still pasted in the album of the original collector. The cards were all produced during the years 1947 to 1949. At least nine of the cards depict Japan Hall of Fame Members--Haruyasu Nakajima (2 different rookie cards), Kazuto Tsuruoka (2 different), Henry "Bozo" Wakabayashi (Hawaii), Osamu Mihara, Hideo Fujimoto (2 different--possible rookie cards) and Fumio Fujimura. Also appearing is a card of Den Yamada, a native of Sacramento, California, who impressed Japan Pro Baseball scouts when he was touring Japan with the Alameda Kono baseball team, and was subsequently signed by the Hankyu Braves, with whom he spent 11 seasons.

Size: The album is 4 1/2" x 3" when closed. Most cards are about 2 1/4" x 2, but sizes vary according to issue.

Condtiion: The cards have all been pasted securely into the album and may be quite difficult to remove successfully. Most cards appear to range in condition from Fair to Vg. Several have been trimmed. The album itself is Good.
