Over the years, we have sold a number of Junior Shirt boxes, either with Sadaharu Oh alone, or with both Oh and Shigeo Nagashima pictured on the lid. The player images on those box lids were cutouts on a solid color background. This rarely seen box, of a style that we have not auctioned before, contains an action shot of Nagashima batting, with Noboru Akiyama, the Hall of Fame pitcher for the Taiyo Whales on the mound. The Nisshinbo Seki Company logo is seen at upper left, with the Pacific and Central League logos at lower left.

The Nisshinbo Seki Co. was a pioneer in the production of non-iron fabrics. The shirt originally found inside this box was 65% tetoron and 35% cotton. Tetoron was a blended fabric of polyester and rayon that was produced in Japan during the 1960s and 1970s. According to the box lid, the shirt was to be worn by an 11 to 12-year-old boy.
