In the past, we have offered numerous tickets from the 1953 Ed Lopat All Stars Tour of Japan. However, this is the first ticket we have ever seen for the game of November 2, 1953 at Chunichi Stadium. The game featured the Lopat All Stars vs. the Japanese All Central League team. This game was the most sparsely attended of the 12 Tour contests, with an announced crowd of only 20,000, which may account for the ticket's scarcity compared to others from the Tour.

Despite the Americans' star studded pitching staff which consisted of Robin Roberts, Bob Lemon, Ed Lopat, Curt Simmons and Mike Garcia, Lopat inexplicably decided to let outfielder Jackie Jensen start the game on the mound. Surprisingly, he held the Japanese team scoreless for the first six innings! Jensen tired in the 7th, yielding three runs and was replaced by Curt Simmons, who surrendered three runs of his own in the 9th. However, the U.S. team held on for a 9-6 victory fueled by a seven run second inning against opposing pitcher and Japan HOFer, Shigeru Sugishita. All time great pitcher Masaichi Kaneda then entered the game and put the brakes on the American attack. Yogi Berra, Hank Sauer and Harvey Kuenn all homered in the game.

The item being offered here is a children's outfield ticket which seems to have been reduced in price from 150 yen to 120 yen, according to the overprinted stamp on the ticket. An ad for Brother Sewing Machines appears on the reverse.
