In 1951, the Daiei Stars finished in fourth position in the seven team Pacific League with a 41-52-8 record. Ordinarily a signed shikishi from such an unremarkable team would not attract a great amount of attention. However, this traditional signing board is different, as it contains the autograph of the all time great Russian hurler, Victor Starffin (HOF). Starffin signed the shikishi in both Western script and in Japanese katakana at the bottom of the shikishi.

Another notable signature is Bunjiro Sakamoto, a third baseman who in 1954 had 10 consecutive hits over a two game span, and also holds the Japan Pro Baseball record for most assists in a season. Sakamoto was a rookie in 1951. Also signing was Shigeya Iijima who was voted to the Best 9 team in both 1950 and 1951, and who led the Pacific League in batting average in 1952. Giichi Hayashi, a right handed submariner who was named to the All Star team in 1951 is another signature that can be found on the shikishi.

All players signed in black ballpoint pen. On the back, someone has written "1951 Stars" in Japanese.
