Sugoroku is a dice game played on a paper game "board". The example on offer here was published by the Futaba Gangu Co. in December 1949. This sugoroku has 20 squares, each with an attractive color drawing of a generic baseball player. With each roll of the dice, a player's piece is moved around the board until he reaches the center and is declared the winner.

Sugoroku depicting various themes (not just baseball) were quite popular, especially during the late 1940s and early 1950s. The artwork on the piece, drawn by artist Yasuaki Koyama is spectacular. This lot includes not only the sugoroku, but also its original and colorful cover envelope. It is not common to find an original sugoroku which still includes the cover envelope.

Size: Sugoroku--30 3/4" x 21 1/2". Envelope--7 7/8" x 11 1/2".

Condition: Sugoroku--Ex. Envelope--Good.
