The 1959 Tachibana Seika cards are distinguished from the company's other issues in that each card contains a playing card image on the front. There were three series of cards printed in 1959. This example comes from the series in which the lines of text on the back which are printed above the paper/scissors/rock symbol do not have spaces between them.

Hiroshi Oshita, a native of Taiwan, was known for his blue bat and his sordid off-the-field behavior. Oshita, a graduate of Meiji University and a trained kamikaze pilot, was selected to seven Best 9 teams and won three batting titles and an MVP award. 1959 was his final season in Japan Pro Baseball. He managed to finish his career with a flourish, batting .303 in 90 games.
