The 1930 Waseda team boasted four future Hall of Famers--Shotaro Ogawa, Masao Date, Osamu Mihara and Shigeo Mori, plus batting champion Shigemi Sato and Hawaiian Mamoru Sugitaya. The manager, Tadao Ichioka is also a Hall of Fame Member. The team won the Fall Big Six League title in 1929, but stumbled to third place finishes in both the 1930 Sprint and Fall seasons. This photo emanates from either 1929 or 1930. This is a rare photo that depicts one of the most prominent teams of the Golden Age of Japan Big Six University baseball. Ogawa is seen top row center wearing a cardigan. Date is in the top row, third from right. Manager Ichioka is top row right. Mihara is bottom row third from left. We think that Mori is top row, third from left, but we are not certain.

Size: 6" x 4 3/8"

Condition: There is minor fading of the image at center. The back contains black paper and glue remnants from previous attachment to a photo album. There are no creases or tears. The corners and borders are solid.
