We recently auctioned a different example of the 1955 New York Yankees Tour of Japan belt buckle for the first time. Now, we have another example, this time nestled in a presentation box. This buckle is in a bit higher grade than the previous one, possibly due to its having been preserved in the box for many years. Following the 1955 season, the New York Yankees toured Japan, playing 16 games, winning 15, with one ten inning tie. This enameled belt buckle containing the Yankees team logo was most likely presented to a player or dignitary from the Tour. The inscription on the back reads "U.S./Japan baseball goodwill big baseball match. New York Yankees invitation. 1955". The wood presentation box contains a label on the inside lid with the name of the manufacturer (Gihodo), along with the company's address and phone number.
