This is the only example of this card that we have ever seen. The card with its colorized photo and orange, cross-hatched border is of a highly unusual style. This is especially true in that the card contains space near the bottom in which to obtain the player's signature. The Japanese word for autograph is printed at the left edge of this area. The small area of extra paper, missing paper and glue on the blank back indicates that this was originally a prize winner card on a display sheet. So, if we ever find other copies of this card, the same flaws on the back will be evident on those examples as well. A 5' 4", 130 lb. fleet footed center fielder who began his career in Japan Pro Baseball's first season (1936), Tsubouchi, as seen here, is wearing his 1950 Chunichi Dragons uniform during his penultimate season in Japanese baseball as a player. In 1950, the 36-year-old Tsubouchi was still quite effective, as he batted .288 with 28 stolen bases.
