Published by Toyokuni Sha, cards from the tan bordered JBR 23 set are found with either brown tone or green tone images. Each card contains a large, posed player
photo which is usually a full body shot. There is no text on the card
front. All cards generally have blank backs, but occasionally a card will have general baseball information printed in Japanese along with a scoreboard on the back.
This card is an example of the more rarely seen scoreboard back style. Shigemi Sato, a member of the Waseda University baseball team, was the batting champion of
the Tokyo Big Six League in the Fall 1930 season with a whopping .483 average!
