This is the first time we have encountered this Babe Ruth biography. We believe that it is not a Japanese translation of an American book, but was actually written by a Japanese author. It was published in September 1934, probably to take advantage of the enthusiasm that was building at the time for the 1934 U.S. Major League All Star Tour of Japan featuring the Sultan of Swat which began less than two months later (11/3/34). There are 15 black and white photos at the beginning of this volume, mostly featuring Ruth. Additionally, there is a photo of a letter written by Connie Mack prior to the 1931 U.S. Tour of Japan. Apparently, he is answering four questions posed by the addressee, a Japanese man, in a previous letter to Mack. One question is whether Mack thinks that a Japanese player who was thought to be good enough, would be allowed to play in the U.S. Major Leagues. Mack seems to think such a player would be accepted! Mack later tried to prove his point in the mid-1930s by trying to bring Eiji Sawamura to the A's. Unfortunately, Sawamura declined the offer. This is a very rare book that would be at home in even the most advanced Babe Ruth collections. Hard/soft cover. Japanese text.
